NEC began its operations in 1993 as Nonoo Exchange Company when it was registered with MOIC and approved by Central Bank of Bahrain as a Money Changer. As the first agent of Western Union in the Kingdom of Bahrain it was one of the pioneers of the global remittance business in the Middle East. In 2010 Nonoo Exchange Company changed its legal status from S.P (Sole Proprietor) to B.S.C. Closed (Bahrain Stock Company) to reflect its growth into respected and mature business. Corporate development was further continued in 2014 when the company rebranded as NEC and unveiled its new vibrant corporate identity.
